Easy Peasy Weebee Doll

Before you begin…

When I make my Easy Peasy Weebee doll using Light Worsted/3/DK/8ply weight yarn and a 3.5mm hook they stand at 6 inches tall. Made from the toes to the top of the head in one go! Any weight of yarn can be used though to create different sized dolls!

Which brand of yarn did I use for my doll?
This pattern is ideal for using up the odd ends of yarn you have left over from other projects I chose to use Stylecraft Special which has a lovely range of colours, is super comfortable to work with and very reasonably priced.

You will need several yarn colours. You can also choose to use more than one colour for a section, like I did for the hat.

Pattern Start
​
The entire doll is worked in joined rounds, at the end of each round, join the last st to the first st with a sl st.
​
Starting with the colour of yarn you have chosen for the ‘shoes'...
​
Rnd 1: Ch16, work 3sc into the second ch from the hook, sc into each of the next 13chs, work 3sc into the last ch, rotate to work down the opposite side of the chain, sc into each of the remaining 13 chs, join (as above) (32sts)

Rnds 2 – 4: Ch1, sc into each st around, join (as before) (32sts)

Fasten off and attach ‘pant’ colour to a st at the side of the body - all colour changes should be made to the side to help hide the change (please see photo).
​
Rnds 5 – 18: Ch1, sc into each st around, join (32sts)
​
Fasten off and attach ‘sweater’ colour to a st at the side of the body.
​
Rnds 19 – 30: Ch1, sc into each st around, join (32sts)
​
Fasten off and attach ‘head’ colour to a st at the side of the body.
​
Rnds 31 – 40: Ch1, sc into each st around, join (32sts)
​
Fasten off and attach ‘hat’ colour to a st at the side of the body.
​
Rnds 41 – 50: Ch1, sc into each st around, join (32sts)
​
Fasten off, leaving a long tail, hide all other loose ends except from this one.
So you should have something that looks like this - it should resemble a long sock without a heel!
Start by stuffing the end that is closed up lightly.
​
You will then take a length of yarn in the same colour as your pants and using a darning needle you will pass it from back to front in as straight a line as possible from just above the shoes to two rounds beneath the waist (the change of colour from pant to sweater). In and out of each round on the way up, this will create a little definition but to create a better separation between the legs you will then pass the yarn over the top of these stitches in a straight line up and down from back to front (as pictured) and pull firmly. Then stuff the legs with a little more stuffing to round each one out individually.
Make sure that throughout the body it is shaped flat, like a pillow (see photo), try not to overstuff..
Use the same method for the arms, lightly stuff the torso, then taking a length of yarn in the same colour for each side, work in and out from the pant line to around 4 rounds below the colour change for the head. Then pass in and out in a straight line to define the shape. Stuff the torso more firmly.

You can secure and hide the loose ends for these definition strands in the dolls body.

Next we will define the neck area. Take a length of yarn in the same colour that you used for the head and using a darning needle, weave it in and out of the stitches in the first round of that colour on the body (please see photo), when you reach where you started, pull the ends tightly to draw the stitches inwards. Tie a knot in the ends, then attach a darning needle to them both and pull the tails through the body, making sure that the knot pops inside too.
Now stuff the neck and head area as firmly as you dare! This area should be shaped like a ball.

To close up the top, attach your darning needle to the fastening off tail (in the hat colour) and weave it back and forth through all of the stitches, when you reach the end of the round, pull nice and tightly on the tail to close up the hole as tightly as you can. Don't worry if there is a slight hole, simply weave the yarn tail in and out from side to side and keep pulling until you are happy with the closure. Secure the tail and then hide it in the body.
Then it is just a case of embroidering simple eyes and a little nose on the head, between the 4th and 6th rounds down from the colour change for the hat.
